Overview
The Aalborg University is a state university with campuses in Aalborg established in 1974. The university awards bachelor’s programs, master’s programs and PhD programs in a broad diversity of research within humanities, social sciences, exact sciences and medicine. The resolution of an institution in the North Jutland around began in 1961 when the North Jutland legation for the elevated institution was established. On 19 August 1969 the Aalborg University federation was established and an arrangement group was founded with Eigil Hastrup as moderator. The same year in December, about 1,000 people from North Jutland protested in front of the Folketinget for their objection. In 1970, a law regarding the organization of a university hub in Aalborg was passed in the Danish council. In 1972, it was determined that the first instructor of the new university hub should be the Swedish annalist and lecturer Jorgen Weibull. On 1 September 1974, Aalborg University hub was instituted by Queen Margrethe II of Denmark. Jorgen Weibull was replaced by Sven Caspersen as instructor of Aalborg University hub in 1976.
