Chalmers University of Technology is a private university established in 1829, located in Gothenburg, Sweden. It was established with the donation of Williams Chalmers. He donated his part of the fortune for the establishment of the Industrial school. The institute ran as a private university through 1937 when it became the second state retained technical university. Chalmers is one of only three universities in Sweden which are named after a person, the other two being Karolinska Institutet and Linnaeus University.
