However, it was officially recognized in Boston in 1869. BU is part of the Boston Consortium for Higher Education and the Association of American Universities. One of our most popular intramural sports is ice broomball, which is similar to ice hockey but played without skates and using a broom as a stick. This sport is beloved by BU students.
