The United States has Opened Up 2,50,000 Visa Appointments for Indian Travellers
There is a big relief for Indians, who want to travel in the US. The country has opened up 2,50,000 new appointments for nonimmigrant visas over the weekend.
The US Embassy in India shared on social media “ It was a busy weekend for our consular team!"
Last week, the waiting period dropped to just over a month in Delhi from 543 days. The wait time in Kolkata has dropped to 126 days. While Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad will continue to have wait times of over 500 days. Based on the data from the US Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration, till September 2023, more than 1,50,000 Indians have traveled in the US.
The country aims to hit a milestone of one million non-immigrant visa applications from India this year. The number of Indian travelers has increased by 20% from the travelers processed in 2019.
The US Embassy and Consulates in India have revealed that more than 1.2 million Indian tourists visited the US in 2022, building a robust travel relationship between India and the USA.
The latest data from the US Department of State- Bureau of Consular Affairs website, regarding the wait times in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad are listed in the table below.
