Campuses and Facilities
The University of Melbourne has three campuses in Melbourne at Burnley, Werribee and Southbank. Parkville is the main campus of the university located near central Melbourne, a diverse and vibrant international city with 4.9 million populations.
Parkville: It is the original and main campus of the university. Founded in 1853, the Parkville campus features several historical spaces and centers across the original Old Quadrangle building along with outstanding modern architecture. The campus is located within walking distance of central Melbourne. It is the home of ten faculties and a community of students, professionals and research staff.
Southbank: This campus co-locates the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music with the Victorian College of Arts. It is a thriving ecosystem of excellent learning, studio and gallery spaces, performance and Southbank.
Burnley: This campus is globally known for its research and teaching in urban ornamental and environmental horticulture, and its expanding utilization of green infrastructure development and research. Burnley Campus was established in 1891 by the Victorian Department of Agriculture which is located in 9 hectares of heritage-listed gardens seven kilometers away from central Melbourne. This campus is the first horticultural college in the southern hemisphere and around the world.
Dookie: This campus is a living laboratory located on 2,440 hectares that incorporates a state-of-the-art robotic dairy, winery and natural bush reserve and working farm. Founded in 1886, the Dookie campus plays a vital role in the development of agricultural education in Australia.
Creswick: Founded in 1910, the Creswick campus is one of the most dedicated forest science and research campuses in Australia. The features consist of listed buildings and laboratories on 15 acres of land and plantation forests.
Werribee: this campus is a hub of specialist care, research, teaching, and Greencross Veterinary Hospital and hosts the Werribee Equine Centre. Werribee Campus is located 32 km southwest of Melbourne and trains the next generation of veterinarians with world-class facilities.
Shepparton: This campus is the center of the University’s Department of Rural Health (DRH) and Academy of Sport Health and Education (ASHE). The DRH works in Australia’s clinical and research departments that deliver quality medical training in the rural context.
